The 80s also saw the huge hit of Toyota Camry sedan which won the best-selling car of the year award. This model was known as Celica Camry in Japan. During 1990s Toyota rolled out Avalon, a full-size sedan and compact RAV4, a SUV. Toyota, pioneer in introducing technologies were the first to introduce world's first hybrid vehicle in mass production. Introduced in 1997 in Japan, the hybrid stepped into US in 2001. Named Prius, the vehicle leads this market segment despite heavy competition. Right now the brand has earned reputation for its consumer-friendly vehicles which vary from cars, trucks, SUV and minivans.
