One of the well renowned brands from Daimler-Chrysler, Plymouth ranked third in the entry-level market. The American car brand was officially dropped from the product line of Daimler-Chrysler Corporation from 2001. Plymouth was found in the year 1928 as an official division of Chrysler Corporation. The marque was created to compete with the entry level models of Ford and Chevrolet. The very first model unveiled by the brand was Plymouth Model 30U in the year 1930. The line of vehicles was very impressive and was known for its innovation, quality and affordability. Two years later the company introduced its Model PB vehicles which was very economical. The decade saw Plymouth 400,000 and more vehicles and it stood unique among the low-priced three. 50s was the period when Plymouth introduced the concept of Forward Look stylish vehicles. The brand which was celebrated for its excellent engineering and styling was under shadow during 1959-1962. The vehicles failed to prove in the market as it was very repeated styles of its earlier models. During 1960 the division faced competition from Dodge Dart. In 1962 the sales of the brand went down drastically as the vehicles were not up to the expectations of the people. 70s saw discontinuation of many models as they were not able to withstand the market. By the end of the decade Chrysler manufactured more Dodge vehicles than Plymouth vehicles. It was only two models the Reliant and Voyager proved in the market during 1981 and 1984. Apart from these models every other model was a failure and the sales continued to decline. Finally in 2004 the brand was officially withdrawn from the market.
