The Idle air control (IAC) valve controls the engine idle speed. It is also known as
a stepper motor. It is used to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. This valve allows the necessary amount of air, as determined by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), an electronic control unit used in vehicles. The IAC is located on the side of the throttle body.
The use of the idle air control valve is to keep the engine steady temperature. The engine computer gives the idle air control valve the
information it needs to hold a constant rpm. It does this by opening and closing a trim valve to allow more or less airflow into the intake manifold when the throttle is closed. The idle air control valve can fail either the motor short circuits or the motor will develop high resistance and cause the idle air control motor to react slowly. It is always better to replace the worn out parts as
soon as possible. At Car Parts Warehouse you can find the finest quality parts. We ensure a better quality idle air control valve
than our competitors at a reasonable price.
