What is the AC Accumulator all about?
Accumulator units are used in the automotive air conditioning system to store
any surplus liquid refrigerant. In other words, the accumulator is used in systems that uses
a thermal expansion valve. There are two functions of an AC drier
1.Drier has to separate gas and liquid.
2.Drier has to remove moisture and filter the dirt.
Air conditioning fluids are subjected to compression and expansion,
while undergoing condensation and evaporation, which can lead to the accumulation of water and contamination.
In these circumstances, the driers are used to flush out the water and contaminants getting into the system. Another threat to your AC system is dirt
which is inevitably collected when we drive the vehicle. This dirt poses a major threat to your car AC system.
There are several variants of driers or accumulators and different dying materials are used. Some of the dying materials are not compatible with the drier and
this information can be found only on the sticker pasted on the AC drier. AC Accumulator/driers are disposable items like fuel. These driers
must be replaced with respect to any changes or replacement in the AC system to avoid moisture
getting into the system. This is to avoid damage to the compressor.
