A catalytic converter is a device in minimizing the toxicity of emissions from an internal combustion machine. There are two types of catalytic converters namely Two-Way and Three-Way catalytic converters. They are also used on mining equipments, buses, trains and other engine equipped machines. The two-way converter widely used in diesel engines to reduce hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide emissions. The three-way catalytic converters can store oxygen from the exhaust gas stream, usually when the air fuel ratio goes down. The catalytic converter is invented to avoid harmful gases mixed to the environment. The converter consists of an expanded tube inside the exhaust tube. There you will find a ceramics appears like honeycomb coated with components which is capable of eliminating harmful particles getting affect in to the atmosphere. The molecules coated on the ceramics convert the particles to harmless gas in the atmosphere. The gas released from the catalytic converter are Nitrogen, Caron dioxide and Water vapor.
