A vehicle has many parts connected to it. Each part perform their own function. Out of all the components, drive axle has a unique function. The main function of the drive axle is to transmit the power. The drive axle has to bare the weight of the vehicle and due to that reason the light vehicles are made from cast iron and steel. The heavy vehicles are made with the cast iron.

The drive axle is a split axle provided with differential and universal joints between the two half axles. Each half axle connects to the wheel by use of a constant velocity joint that allows the wheel assembly to move freely vertically as well as to pivot when making turns. The ends of the Cadillac drive axle are connected to the trans axle and wheel hub assembly. The Cadillac drive axle is powered by an engine and responds to the input from the steering wheel. The Cadillac Eldorado drive axle can be front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. The drive axles are classified in to full-folding axle and semi-folding axle. The heat produced from the vehicle can easily affect the drive axle. So this will cause damage to the system. There is a possibility of explosion occur in the drive axle due to over pressure it experience manually or through some of the forces. In such cases the drive axle should be replaced with the original equipment replacement parts.
